Question: Do
you offer a PDA, Pocket PC or Tablet PC interfaces for ExpressMaintenance?
Answer:
The portable computing environment is changing fast. Many software
companies have spent thousands of development dollars only to have their
intended platform become obsolete by the time the product was ready.
Express Technology is eager to offer our software for the portable
computing environment but must make wise development decisions that will
provide long term benefits to our customers and the company.
ExpressMaintenance and ExpressRequest will work now with a Tablet PC
running Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC edition. Tablet PCs
function much like notebook computers with enhanced user interfaces for
portability. Using a wireless network, users can utilized Tablet
PCs to manage maintenance, track work orders and parts inventory in
ExpressMaintenance just as they would at a wired workstation.
Utilizing the Tablet PC with a wireless network is a powerful and
affordable solution to maximize productivity.
In Express Technology is currently developing a PDA /
Pocket PC interface for
ExpressMaintenance. The PDA interface will be offered as an
optional add-on module to ExpressMaintenance with an estimated
introduction price of
$600. The PDA interface
allow users to utilize the PDA or Pocket PC device as a generally paperless method
of processing work orders, inspections, parts inventory and asset
tracking.
Users can download
assigned work orders and take the data with them to the equipment
being serviced. PDA work orders can be completed with full
information including downtime, labor time, services, parts and notes.
Users simply return the PDA to the cradle where the ExpressMaintenance
database can be updated with the work order completion data.
ExpressMaintenance
currently supports the use of barcodes for inventory and asset tracking.
The PDA interface will further extend this support. The PDA
interface includes features to cover the following areas in a convenient
and paperless manner:
The PDA interface is
currently under development and testing. It is currently scheduled to be released in
the 3rd quarter of 2005. In keeping with our commitment to quality
and affordability, the interface is being designed to be very easy to
use and pricing will be very affordable. |
